Meeting Schedule
The district board convenes for meetings on the first Tuesday of every month. These sessions are open to the public, who are encouraged to attend. The specifics of meeting times and venues are subject to change; therefore, please refer to our Agenda or reach out to the district for information regarding the location and timing of the upcoming meeting. Our meetings are conducted in accordance with the Idaho Open Meeting Law Manual, January 2023 edition (Idaho Code §§ 74-201 through 74-208). Board Meeting Procedures
Public Participation at Board Meetings All regular and special meetings of the Board are open to the public, except for executive sessions which may be held in accordance with legal provisions. Individuals desiring to be included on the Board's agenda must contact the district no later than fourteen (14) days before the meeting, typically scheduled for the third Tuesday of each month. This policy provides the Board with an opportunity to become acquainted with the issues prior to the commencement of the meeting. Those wishing to address the Board must be listed on the agenda and subsequently acknowledged by the Chairperson. Speeches are restricted to five (5) minutes unless an extension is granted. The Chairperson has the discretion to prolong this duration if deemed beneficial for the Board. Additionally, the Chairperson reserves the right to limit overall visitor commentary time and implement necessary regulations to ensure orderly proceedings. The Chair's decisions can be overturned by a majority Board vote. The Board may occasionally solicit public hearings on matters necessitating further community engagement. It is important for presenters to recognize that Board members lack individual authority in official capacities. Therefore, while inquiries may be directed at specific members, their responses represent personal views rather than official Board stances, unless previously deliberated and decided upon by the entire Board. It is imperative to remember that Board meetings serve to conduct district business; hence, to facilitate thorough deliberation on actionable items, public contributions are typically confined to agenda topics. Following this, as a standard practice, the Chair will not acknowledge public comments as the Board engages in its formal activities. The district will sometimes require executive sessions. Executive sessions are closed to the public. Americans with Disabilities The meeting will take place in venues compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act's accessibility standards. Should you need special accommodations to attend, engage in, or comprehend the proceedings, kindly reach out to the Lewis Soil Conservation District at (208) 480-3042 to facilitate prior arrangements. |
